One of the hardest things to do as a journalist is to turn something which is complicated and boring into something simple and interesting…

Last year This American Life produced a fantastic show on the sub-prime mortgage crisis in the US, which can be streamed from here. It broke down the whole mess into a nice easily understandable sequence of events.

They’ve followed up with part 2 on breaking down how banks actually work. With the help of Alex Blumberg and NPR’s Adam Davidson the TAL manage to create a sort of radio drama on the current banking crisis.

Well worth a listen
