It’s as simple as this – it was drummed into us in the first week of media law:
Point 5 of the PCC code of practice on ‘Intrusion into grief or shock’
“*ii) When reporting suicide, care should be taken to avoid excessive detail about the method used.”
I wonder how many kids walked past that front page in their local newsagent. I wonder how the family of the guy felt when they saw it.
