Television’s Mike Nesbitt…
At some point in the near future I plan to go through and list all of the social media Northern Ireland’s forthcoming General Election candidates will be using (or trying to use…)
But for now, I’d just like to highlight television’s Mike Nesbitt as a reasonably good example of a candidate taking part in a healthy exercise of engagement.
Although he might not have grasped the art of blogging quite yet (editing and updating the same post each time), he’s certainly very comfortable answering comments and queries from regular punters.
Check out the exchanges on his maiden post.
After a decade in front of our screens and a year’s ‘experience’ as Victims Commissioner, Mike should be well suited to handle the media pressure put on him in the coming months – he’s even provided a breakdown of the issues he’ll be campaigning on.
Though Nesbitt’s selection to run as the Unionist/Tory candidate for Iris Robinson’s vacant Strangford seat, may end up with awkward questions being asked at UTV’s Havelock House.
The conflict of interest between Mike’s campaign and UTV Live anchor Lynda Bryans, who happens to be his wife, will have to be delicately addressed…
