Ian Parsley stands (in front of stuff) for election.

Announcing his nomination to run as the Unionist and Conservative candidate in North Down, Ian Parsley has kicked off his shock-and-awe media blitz with a peculiar photo-series.
The facebook series titled “Out and About” sees the former promising Alliance upstart stand, dare I say it, UNCUNFortably, at some of the North Down issue key battlegrounds, including the Bangor fountain “I say NO, NO, NO, to the needless waste of fairy washing up liquid in this fine seaside water feature.”, Donaghadee Harbour and the above pictured temporary carpark. Talk about drawing battle-lines.
Now I think Parsley is a smart and talented guy, and might even be a good choice for the unique principality that is North Down, but this is utterly cringe-worthy embarrassing guff. I really hope the lad has a few more polished ideas up his sleeve.
Update: I know this was quite a light hearted post, but there’s a serious point behind it. A point highlighted in the Liverpool Daily Post.
But posting a picture with him stood next to a pothole with no words? Why? What’s the point when there is no context or point of reference?
I still think that most people vote on national issues. And whether good or poor use of the internet in marginal seats is enough to win or lose a seat remains to be seen. But this should serve as a lesson to all candidates.

I’ll take this as good fun, but you’ll appreciate I’ve only actually been the candidate for seven hours!
I hope, given a little more time, to add some “polish”!
Regards,
Ian P.
